Eric Lefkovsky – Making A Life-Changing Difference

Eric Lefkovsky is a Chicago billionaire, who wants to facilitate change about the way the medical community fights cancer. He launched Tempus Labs to enhance how cancer patients are diagnosed. Tempus is highly focused on the available data, and so is Lefkovsky. The company partners with premier institutions of higher learning, as well as NCI-designated cancer centers, to gather cancer patient data, They subsequently consolidate and organize it, so the information can be disseminated to doctors, who can use it to create treatment plans which are tailored specifically to each patient.

According to Lefkovsky, the best treatment approach utilizes both clinical data and the information in the patient’s health profile, which he cites as molecular data. He is referring to the patient’s genetic makeup (DNA and RNA). Ultimately, Tempus’ goal is to use the collected data in combination with science and technology advances, and human genome sequencing to promote improved cancer treatment.

Eric Lefkovsky is the co-founder of several companies, including Groupon, Uptake, Echo Global Logistics, Inner-Workings, and Lightbank. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business but formerly held teaching positions at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University.
